Emma has been at school 2 weeks and the days without her are quiet. There is no dancing, no prancing and head stands, no buzzing around like a bee throughout the house. There is a hush. I decompress.
I'm glad I get a chance to appreciate that energy now, through these hours of stillness. I didn't before.
Neave is the quiet type. I hear her humming quietly to herself while painting a picture, or talking softly with her dollys as she lines them up carefully on her bed. She loves to wear her pink leoptard and put on her slippers and listen to Jazz music and do the tree pose. She doesn't demand much. Just a book to be read, and a scratch to be kissed. She's quite content. Josefine lies on the floor chewing on her favorite toy, gurggling. She flips over and tries to get up onto all fours. She is trying to crawl.
I look at my knitting lying next to me on the couch, a sweather for Josefine. Its purple and is almost finished. I just need to cast off and add some buttons. Maybe this evening, when everyone is a sleep and the house is silent.
For now, i'll just sit her quietly, enjoying the stillness.
